May in New Orleans: Music, Merriment, and More

Warm sunshine beaming down, breezes flowing through the gorgeous old oaks – it’s a sign of early summer in New Orleans. So put on your dancing shoes because it’s time to celebrate! The month of May kicks off with the second weekend of Jazz Fest and doesn’t slow down.

Here’s a list of our favorite happening in and around New Orleans for the month.

Jazz Fest April 22 – May 1

This world-class festival features legends, locals, and everything in between. It’s a time to celebrate great music and fabulous food while enjoying New Orleans beautiful scenery.

Mother's Day May 8

Nothing says "I love you, mom," quite like a trip to New Orleans. Take her for a stroll down Magazine Street to explore unique boutiques and great antiques. Explore the French Quarter in all of it's glory with street performers, talented artists, beautiful architecture, and more! Make memories with mom that will last a lifetime!

Bayou Boogaloo May 20 – 22, 2016 at Bayou St. John

May is a month of music around the Crescent City, and Bayou Boogaloo is the perfect place to show off the amazing talent around town. The free festival happens on the banks of the historic Bayou Saint John and it’s a local favorite featuring an art market, up and coming musicians, and of course tasty New Orleans treats.

New Orleans Wine and Food Experience May 26 – 29, 2016 at New Orleans

Delicious signature dishes from the best chefs in the Big Easy paired with exceptional wines from around the world. What more do you need?

Greek Festival May 27 – 29, 2016 at Hellenic Cultural Center

Celebrating Greek culture in the Crescent City, with food, music, shopping and more!

With major events happening almost every weekend the month of May, you definitely want to make a trip! Plus, we  close out the month with Memorial Day celebrations all over the city!
