Fall in Love with New Orleans
Do you feel that breeze with just a touch of cool crispness? Fall is finally upon New Orleans. This means cooler temps, lower humidity, festivals and football! Autumn is a beautiful time to visit New Orleans. From picnics in the park to sipping cocktails out in our charming courtyard, there is a lot to do in The Big Easy during October. Check out a few of our favorites.
Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival
The weekend of October 14-16, head over to Lafayette Square Park and celebrate the blues and BBQ. Admission is free and you get live music featuring Taj Mahal, Jon Cleary & the Monster Gentlemen, Tab Benoit and more talented blues musicians. And we need to talk about the food…Blue Oak BBQ, The Joint BBQ and Bratz Y'all! are just a few of the delicious vendors that will be serving up some BBQ! Want to do some shopping? There will be a huge Arts Market featuring local and regional hand-crafted art and home furnishings. You do not want to miss this fall fest!
Boo at the Zoo
Boo at the Zoo is one of the best Halloween events for kids in the city. On the weekends of October 21, 22, 28 and 29, dress up your little one(s) as the scariest ghost or goblin around and take them over to Audubon Zoo for a spooky good time! The event cost $17 and is open to kids up to the age of 12. There will be trick-or-treat houses with candy, a haunted house, a Ghost Train, a Monster Maze, games, live entertainment and more!
Krewe of Boo
What's a holiday without a parade? At least, that's how we "roll" in New Orleans. Krewe of Boo, our official Halloween parade, will roll through the French Quarter on Saturday, October 22. Featuring world-class floats, marching bands, beads and more, you do not want to miss the spooky event!
Voodoo Music & Arts Experience
Every year this huge 3-day music festival at City Park is held on or near Halloween weekend. With some of the top musical acts in the world, this year's line-up will not disappoint. Tool, The Weekend and Arcade Fire are just some of the talent that will be performing. Along with the beautiful weather, interactive large-scale art installations and top notch New Orleans food, this fest is a guaranteed good time!
Saints Games
Fall equals football season, which means tailgating, Saints home games at the Superdome and loads of fun! Our beloved Saints have two home games during the month, one on October 16th against the Panthers and one on October 30th against the Seahawks. And if you are in town for the away games on October 2 and 23, find a local pub and root on our Saints!
